After 45 years of service and thousands of press cycles with water hydraulics, a compression molding press was sent to ASB Industries for reconditioning.

RAM was thermal sprayed back to dimensional tolerances using stainless steel, which provides lubricating properties and reduces wear to the surface. The packing area was thermal-sprayed with aluminum bronze to rebuild it to original size. The cylinder chamber was protected with zinc thermal spray to prevent corrosion, pitting and contamination in the water hydraulic system. Guide ways and machine surfaces were remachined to original tolerances for proper mold fit and smooth mechanical movement of the press.

All dissassembly, machining, thermal spray and assembly work for the press and 14 others was completed at ASB facilities. Our customer reports greatly improved component wear resistance and product quality from all 15 compression molding presses, upgraded and reconditioned by ASB Industries.
