Jonathan Fouts is a Chemical Engineer finishing his graduate research at the Timken Engineered Surfaces Laboratories (TESL) at the University of Akron. For his doctorate Jonathan’s director is Dr. Gary Doll formally at Timken Corp. as the Director of Research and Development and co-advisor is Dr. Paul Shiller formally with Timken as Senior Research Scientist.

Jonathan is a multi-discipline scientist specializing in surface science, chemical engineering, metallurgical coatings and analytical chemical spectroscopy. He has been a member of AIChE and ACS for over six years, and STLE for five years. He was nominated into Sigma Xi in 2016.

As a research and scientist Jonathan has mentored students and has enjoyed watching them become successful engineers in fermentation science, chemical engineering, robotics and biomolecular engineering. Mentoring is a belief in encouraging others to go farther then you have, knowing you are making the world a better place. “I have been very lucky to have had such amazing mentors and supporters, the only way I know to really say thanks is to pass what I have received on to the next generation”
