As material feeds from the injection point traveling through a heated barrel, the abrasive sliding action from hard particles to high injection pressures into the mold can be thermal sprayed using a variety of high wear and corrosion resistant coatings to increase part life. HVOF tungsten carbide applied to the Conveyor Screw both on the flights and roots keep equipment operating at designed injection rates. A variety of chemistry for the thermal spray materials can potentially increase part performance combating abrasion, corrosion and higher temperatures. Identifying life cycles between maintenance is critical to rebuild worn components to reduce complete part replacement. This common surface enhancement option requires proper thermal spray coating procedures to optimize proper nozzle angle for optimum coating strucutre.
