Castcoat – Ceramic coating for copper mold plates
“Protect the heart of your machine” with a world leading technology, Castcoat.

Castcoat is a hard wear resistant ceramic coating which when applied to continuous caster copper mold plates provides a wearing surface that is resistant to abrasion and chemical attack and is instrumental in extending the operational capability of the mold in line with modern production demands.

Now a mature technology with a world-wide customer base, Castcoat has provided users with significant improvement in mold lives, between refurbishments, of 3-4 times for thick slab casters and up to 6 times on thin slab caster applications

By coating all four faces of the mold, dimensional stability is retained throughout the campaign leading to sustained and effective product shape and shell growth through consistent heat transfer.

Longer campaigns between mold changes achieve increased caster availability. In addition the protection offered Castcoat gives extended copper plate life resulting in annual copper savings.

Castcoat is utilized on all continents from North America to Asia including USA, Canada, Sweden, Belgium, France, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic and South Korea, making Castcoat an international standard and success story. ASB Industries continues to develop partnerships throughout the world allowing technically advanced thermal spray processing to North America. Our relationships include agreements with Corus Process Engineers in the UK, CGT and Linde Corporation for the advancement of the Cold Spray Process and Nippon Steel Hardfacing for components used in Continuous Strip Steel Processing on coating and finishing facilities.

Continuous improvement is at the forefront of every operation. Castcoat is no exception, with the next generation of coating already well advanced. Current success allows continuous advancements to higher levels of improvement based on direct operating feedback from Castcoat users.

Working with Caster refurbishment companies, ASB links the technically advanced Castcoat to give users the option of processing capabilities of ASB Industries in North America.
