A new facility incorporating state-of-the-art processing acquired a variety of equipment with new designs and features. This component shown is part of the equipment used for packaging finished product. This improperly engineered part including the base material of pure aluminum wore quickly from sliding wear cutting a groove in the part causing disruption in this company’s production. At the request of our customer, ASB rebuilt the part using our High Pressure 2000-2 Cold Spray System with an added HVOF hard surfacing on the wear area. Although still in testing stages, we believe this simple repair on aluminum will give the part considerable more wear life saving the customer down time and maintenance costs—and major disruptions in production.
