Dr. Reza Daroonparvar was an Assistant Professor at Azad University and a postdoctoral researcher at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where he earned his doctorate in mechanical (materials) engineering. His research for his doctorate focused on nanostructured bond coats for thermal barrier coating systems (TBCs). Dr. Daroonparvar has also developed very thin and protective Al2O3 layer at the bond coat/top coat interface of thermal barrier coating systems. Dr. Daroonparvar has made significant contribution to the development of magnesium alloys for biomedical and industrial applications. Magnesium (Mg) alloys are an exciting area of research in materials science due to their low density, high stiffness, high specific strength, good damping capacity and recyclability which make Mg alloys suitable solutions for the biomedical applications, automotive, aerospace and electronic industries. However, they are limited in that they have little resistance to wear, corrosion and oxidation as well. Dr. Daroonparvar explored the effectiveness of various multilayered protective coatings on increasing corrosion and wear resistances of magnesium alloys. Dr. Daroonparvar has published articles in many reputable Journals and has been recognized as an international reviewer by the Elsevier. Many prestigious journals such as Corrosion Science, Applied Surface Science, Surface and Coating Technology, Alloys and Compounds have awarded outstanding contribution in reviewing title to Dr. Daroonparvar.

Dr. Daroonparvar will be working with Dr. J. Karthikeyan who has developed coating systems for high temperature applications in the Steel Industry, a range of material development, applications and patents for Cold Spray equipment among problem solving for wear applications accessing problem solving and failure analysis from data received from customers. Dr. J. Karthikeyan has been with ASB Industries for over 18 years and active in the Thermal Spray Society and many collaborations from around the world including, Australia, India and Europe.  Dr. Karthikeyan's latest publication from ASM International includes High Pressure Cold Spray: Principals and Applications.
